Irish Championship 2025 Round 2 - Turner Trophy - 1st November

Dromore

After a tough day weather wise on Slemish Mountain the previous week, lovely Autumn weather greeted us on Saturday 1st November as we made our way to the IC Round 2 Trial at Dromore Outdoor Activity Centre hosted by the Ards Motorcycle Club.

A field of nearly 80 riders turned out, a great mix of all grades represented from both centres. Many of us had visited Dromore over the summer for the British Championship rounds and it was great to see some of the sections marked along the lines of the Championship. Dromore never disappoints, with a good mix of technical sections with rivers and a nice cross country spin.

Alex Guthrie - Section 9

With over 15 riders from the Southern Centre attending we had some very strong results over the day. Congratulations to Josh Hanlon on his win in the Elite class, with just 29 points on the board, followed by Stuart McClurg and Scott Callaghan with a very strong 3rd spot. Cillian Doyle came in 4th followed by Stuart Hanlon.

In the Expert class, Paul McLoughlin took home a very convincing win with just 33 points dropped. Well done to Alex Guthrie for a very strong ride on the day in this class.

Congratulations to Mark Harris who took the top spot in the Semi-Expert class with 40 points, followed by Gary Walll who battled with Philip Harris for 5th and 6th place and Simon Conerney a little further down the scoreboard.

Harry Schmelter - Section 5

In Clubman, Gordon Lucas rode a tightly contested class battling with Gary McCullough and Nathan Gillespie.

In the Sportsman class, Dale Allison took home a very strong 3rd position with just 8 points lost on the day. Well done to Oliver Boland, James O’Rourke and Chris Hampshire in this class.

The Youth’s were out in force with Philip Brannigan riding in Youth B with Ollie Smyth and Harry Schmelter topping the class in Youth C+.

Arthur Hampshire continues to impress this season with a great win in Youth C on his TRS e-bike!
