2026 M.C.I Trials Licence
Now that the season is getting into gear a little reminder about all things licensing. It may also be helpful for anyone wishing to join the sport of Trials. Any questions please contact us via DM or your Club.
Two licence options are available for 2026. Here’s a clear breakdown:
1. OPTION 1 – Full Licence (€350 adult / €50 youth) - A Grade D Licence is required for competitive Trials
Apply on the Motorcycling Ireland website under "Online Forms":
https://motorcyclingireland.ie/competition-licence.../
What you need to upload:
Anti-Doping Certificate
If you don’t have a certificate right now, don’t worry. The anti-doping process is being updated by Sport Ireland / MCI. For now, enter any random date and click “Can’t find form” to proceed. Your licence will still be validated. By applying, you agree to complete the new anti-doping requirements once they become available.
Medical Certificate for Trials:
You only need to complete the top half of the form, upload and submit with your licence application. You do not need a GP signature.
Club membership certificate:
Upload the one you received after taking membership with one of the MCI clubs.
(Newcomers only) Riders assessment form — you can continue with your application without it at hand, rider assessment can be done at later date, reach out to your MCI club for the nearest available dates.
2. OPTION 2 — Participants Pass (€100)
(For training and practice events only – not valid for competitive events)
Apply via the Motorcycling Ireland website under "Online Forms":
https://motorcyclingireland.ie/non-competition-off-road.../
As part of the application:
a. Complete the self-declaration medical form (available during the online process). Upload it when prompted.
b. Club membership certificate.
Upload the one you received after taking membership with one of the MCI clubs.
This pass covers practice days, training sessions and non-competitive events only.
Upgrading Later?
If you upgrade from a Participants Pass to a Full 2026 MCI Trials Licence (€350), the €100 fee you already paid will be deducted.
Important:
Before upgrading, email the MCI Office so they can apply the deduction correctly: office@motorcyclingireland.ie
This also applies to Vintage and Veteran Participants Passes.
